bullied at work

Where work is concerned, I am doing fine. Well, there is this new joiner in the team who has come to take my place when I move over to Options in mid December. Let's call him "M". M has a decent look and doesn't look like the sort who will lord over people. That was the conclusion I drew from the first sight I had of him when he came for the interview. Unfortunately, his first week in the office had already made me understand fully what it means by "Looks can be deceiving".

Indeed, I agree fully. He was impolite when he asked for favours from me and he just did not have the right attitude in learning. So why on earth did the manager and director decide to hire him? The only reason I could think of is that ... he was probably very good with his words during the interview.

What is an interview to a relationship manager with a few years of experience? He definitely has the gift of the gab which he can use to his advantage. I am indignant about the fact that he is bullying me even though he's just a contractor. We're on par level. Why the hell is he doing that? I just think that he doesn't respect me at all. He probably thinks that I'm just a contractor like him and he doesn't have to give a damn about the things he says or does to me. Well, I thought to myself that I might be a little sensitive about this. Apparently, my colleagues who overheard the way he spoke to me was impolite and they did not like it either. I begin to dislike him a lot. I am so thankful that I am leaving the place.

The longer I stay there, the more I dislike the place and the people. Well, I do think that my superiors are a little biased towards guys. M was given proper training on the systems and procedures when he joined the team but I wasn't. In fact, I was left to learn as much as I could on my own along the way. Honestly, this is a serious problem. I hate it... the more I see M, the more angry and annoyed I get? LOL.

I feel like putting pins on his doll!

Yeap, I am going through the grumpy stage again. Grr. Every little thing just irks me.

Despite what has happened at work, you have to put that smile across your face all the time when you interact with people. No matter how much you don't like it, you have to do it.

That's the con of working. You have to put up with people all the time. It just occurred to me that I've not taken leave since I started working at the bank.

Maybe this is why I am going cranky here. I need an escape badly.

Well, I think I am just not used to working yet. Once I am used to it, I will be 'fit and ready' to fight anyone I dislike at work. A colleague of mine told me that if I am bullied, the last thing I should do is to sit there and keep quiet about it. Instead, I should rebel and let that bully know that I am not someone to be messed around with easily. If you're not strong, nobody will stand up for you.

I am just hoping that I get less politics in the next team.

I am glad that I will be taking leave on coming Wednesday and Thursday. Mr Wu and I planned to go on the SG flyer on Wednesday! I can't wait for it to come. I've always wanted to go there! I think the best time to go will be 1830 - 1900 (30-minute ride). Hehe, I'm really excited about it. I pray for a good weather on Wed evening!

I'll be back with pictures!
