bad guy xxx
Last week was probably one of worst weeks at work ever. I wouldn't have defined it to be one of the worst had it not been for this one bad guy at work. He totally had no respect for me, so why should I even show respect for him?
Friday was casual at office because of max-packing day. To be clear here, max-packing reshuffling seats in Barcap and ensure that every little space is utilised; i.e a row for 5 seaters accomodates 6 seaters now. It's a really stupid and dumb-ass plan I guess. Though disgruntled about the management plan, we went ahead to pack our stuff in cardboxes provided on Friday. The management offered us donuts on this max-packing day and the donuts triggered it all.
He came with the donuts and asked if I wanted them. I said " Nah, it doesn't really look appetizing to me " in a joking manner. Actually, I really meant it inside my heart. LOL. To my disgust, he said " Diam lah! " in a very rude tone. What he said meant "Shut up lah! " in Hokkien. I was flabbergasted and annoyed at the same time. I thought to myself, "This guy has been trying to walk all over me for the longest time and now he isn't respecting me in front of my team members even. Why should I even keep mum and let him do what he likes? " I know that if I had rebutted, it'd make things ugly.
So did you guys think that I rebut him in the end?
Yes, I did. I told him to shut his bloody mouth up. I guess I was a little bit loud. He got a shock and walked away and my team mate asked what happened. I didn't really bother to explain the details. I mean, some of them had even heard what he said to me. People would have known that he started it first. Had I continued to give in to his nonsense, he'd walk all over me one day. Why should I be a weakling? No way I will be.
My whole Friday was pretty badly affected. I tried to get over it as soon as I could so that it wouldn't spoil my weekend. I couldn't believe that such a person like him actually exists. So much ego and sarcasm. I hate him. The word is "hate" and not "dislike". After some conversations with my team mates, a few of them couldn't stand his work attitude as well. I couldn't believe that he will be moving up to the FO to be a trader assistant. I'm eager to witness a good show ahead.
Another 3 days to HKG. I can't wait. I am counting down to it every min and sec. Somewhat, I don't know if I am excited about going HKG or just being away from work and Singapore. I 'm getting tired of work. Work makes me feel stupid, stupid and more stupid. I didn't think I am doing that badly. Maybe I just have too high expectations for myself? Or am I not living up to expectations that people have of me? I am getting the peer pressure here.
I've been wondering to myself a lot lately, "What is it that I'm afraid of at work?"
