all about meeting expectations
We heard that Gary will be leaving the team for a good 4 months to cover a FX trader who will be going on maternity leave. Oh well, it's a pity that I couldn't apply for the temporary position in time. My manager sent out an email asking for interest. I was on leave when she did so. When I got back from leave, many people were already fighting for the position.
I supposed these people are definitely in a better position than I am. We all start at different positions but wanting to pursue for the same position. Interesting, isn't it?
It was quite a struggle for me to accept the fact that Gary will be away from the team. Gary is my mentor for the new role and he is also the person I talk most to in the team. He told me today that it'd be my chance to shine during his absence. His words added a lot of pressure on me. My psychotic manager told me that I'd need to take up more on Trade Support once he leaves the team.
I seriously don't want to fail anyone during the next 4 months. Am I up to it?
I can only think hard of the 'barriers' at work preventing me from meeting expectations. Sitting on my right in the office is one barrier.
She joined the team a month ago and she was expected to pick up my old role as quickly as possible so I could move on. But if her learning is slow, how can I ever move on? She can make my blood boil at times. I discovered a set of breaks yesterday which she did investigate on at all. All she did was to assume and it was left over from Friday! If you are not sure, please ask, for goodness' sake!
By luck, I spotted them yesterday during random checks. All I know is that her progress is rather slow. If she cannot grow into the role, I cannot grow into mine as well.
From my observation on how she answered my questions, it did not seem like this lady had worked for a few years?! Where did all the common sense and fundamentals go to? She asked for lunch with me and another colleague tomorrow. She wanted to give us a treat because she felt bad for disturbing us with her questions.
Hmm, I'm not sure if it was a good attempt on her end. I know that I wouldn't want her to give such a treat. Maybe treating us to lunch will make her feel better. I think pulling up her socks at work will be a better treat for me!
Another 'barrier' sits diagonally opposite me in the office. I don't know why, we seemed to be drifting away from each other. We simply have nothing much to say each other but I think I need to overcome the awkwardness between us. I still need to talk to her about work when Gary is away. She has the most experience and I am sure I'd be able to squeeze something valuable from her during work. I just hope that things between us do not get worse.
She is getting really weird too. She tried too hard to convert people to her religion. I can't stand it! I hope she'll just respect people's religions.
Yikes! These people can be scary too, isn't it?
Enough of people at work.
I finally bought my Balenciaga!! It's 5-days old. Haha, I got it together with boyfriend on his birthday.
We spent sometime at the shop. I found it so hard to buy the bag. I had to think carefully, you see.... and it wasn't cheap to me! Of course you need to make sure you're spending 2.5 K on something you really like!
And part of it was sponsored by Mr Wu, thank you! :)
The colour is a good match with most of my outfits.... so I am totally lovin' it!
